Individualized weekly or biweekly appointments typically 50 minutes in length. First we’ll spend time getting to know one another and developing an understanding of what’s bringing you into therapy, what you’d like to experience differently or change, and talk through the ways therapy can help get you there. Then we get to work! The model we’ll use is tailored to your needs and preferences; my approach is relational, compassionate and developed not only from training, but more so from the insight and wisdom of my clients over the years.
I work with people struggling with a range issues from feeling stressed with the pressures of work or parenting, to grappling with a recent death. If you’re unsure why you’re feeling anxious and overwhelmed, on edge or angry, I’m ready to help figure it out together and understand more clearly what’s going on.
Sometimes we know we’ve experienced something pretty terrible and it’s normal to have upsetting memories, dreams and not want to be around situations or people that remind us of what happened. But if these problems are lasting for months after the event and interfering with daily activities, or your relationships, treatment can help. I offer specialized trauma-focused therapy that goes beyond the symptom, so you can heal and live a meaningful, fulfilling life after trauma.
For certain presenting issues or mental health diagnoses, I will recommend evidence-based therapies and will make specific treatment recommendations. What’s an evidence-based therapy? While I am trained in many different treatments, I’m not a specialist for all. If we aren’t a great fit, or I don’t have the skills that you need and deserve, I will make sure to help get you connected to someone who does.
